CBAM

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism reporting phase closes. Certificates for 2026 imports are sold from 1 February 2027 and surrendered by 30 September 2027 (Regulation (EU) 2025/2083).

CBAM

Definitive period starts for imports of iron, steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen. Listed separately from furniture, with indicative adoption of the ESPR delegated act in 2029, per the working plan. Focus: waste generation, lifetime extension and material efficiency. As a rule, at least 18 months from the delegated act to application.

Minimum recycled content for industrial batteries over 2 kWh (except those with exclusively external storage), EV batteries and SLI batteries: cobalt 16%, lead 85%, lithium 6%, nickel 6% (EU 2023/1542 Art 8(2)).
