How it works

From the data you have to a passport on your own domain.

01

Passports from what you already have

EU-compliant passports built from your product pages, Excel/CSV files or your PIM.

02

Automated data collection, no IT project

From your website, your files and your suppliers. AI fills gaps only with a visible source, and a person approves before anything is saved.

03

Checked against the law

Every passport is graded A–F against ESPR, the Battery Regulation and the EN 18216–18223 standards. The free validator grades any provider's passport.

04

Ask the passport

Your customers ask questions and get answers from your own data.

05

On your own domain

GS1 Digital Link or any identifier the regulation allows, with QR codes and labels.

Standards

The standards we cover.

The DPP space isn't one regulation; it's a stack. Here's what DPP Agent implements natively.

ESPR (EU 2024/1781)

The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation is the parent framework. Article 4 lets the Commission set requirements per product group by delegated act, Article 7 covers information requirements, and Article 9 the digital product passport, whose data is drawn from Annex III. DPP Agent carries the Annex III passport data, with category schemas for textiles and footwear, electronics, tyres, furniture, mattresses, construction products, iron and steel, and aluminium. Delegated Acts land per product group on a rolling schedule — we track them.

AGEC (French Loi anti-gaspillage)

France's anti-waste law sets national textile disposal and EPR rules alongside ESPR: the Triman logo, the Info-tri sorting instruction, and the EPR unique identifier (IDU). Every French-facing textile DPP validates against the AGEC overlay. Also covered: the Article 13 product information sheet, the EPR scheme, and disposal instructions.

CIRPASS-2 core data model

The cross-sector data model from CIRPASS-2, the passport project the EU funds under the Digital Europe Programme to make passports readable across systems. DPP Agent emits CIRPASS-2 JSON per DPP through the resolver (?schema=cirpass-2) so downstream tools that read that model ingest without custom mapping.

EU Batteries Regulation (2023/1542)

Batteries are first in line for mandatory DPPs (from 18 February 2027 for LMT batteries, industrial batteries over 2 kWh and EV batteries). DPP Agent implements chemistry, capacity, state-of-health, dismantling information, critical-raw-material declarations, and collection and end-of-life information per Annex XIII of the Battery Regulation.

GS1 Digital Link (ISO/IEC 18975)

Every DPP is reachable via a GS1 Digital Link URI compatible with the ISO QR standard (ISO/IEC 18004). GTIN, batch (AI 10), serial (AI 21) and CPV (AI 22) are supported so a single QR resolves to the right passport at the right granularity.

The eight CEN passport standards (JTC 24)

Written under the Commission's request M/604 to support ESPR. Six are harmonised, cited in the Official Journal in July 2026. Two more, on access and authenticity, are finished but not cited yet.

EN 18216

Harmonised
Data exchange protocols

How a passport travels between systems. Every passport answers on one address with a page for people and JSON for machines, chosen by the Accept header of the request.

EN 18219

Harmonised
Unique identifiers

Which identifier a passport may carry and how it is written. We address passports by GS1 Digital Link (/01/ followed by the GTIN) where a valid GTIN exists, otherwise by an identification link, and publish a GS1 linkset so the links can be discovered.

EN 18220

Harmonised
Data carriers

The QR code or tag on the product and what it must lead to. Our codes resolve to the passport itself, and the validator fails any carrier whose address answers with an error.

EN 18221

Harmonised
Data storage, archiving and persistence

How long a passport must stay available, and what happens if the publisher goes away. Every version is archived, and when a backup host is set the passport points to it, so it can outlive a change of vendor.

EN 18222

Harmonised
APIs

The Life Cycle API for reading passports from software. We serve the three mandatory read methods: by passport ID, by product ID, and in bulk by product IDs.

EN 18223

Harmonised
System interoperability

The shared data model, so any system can read any passport. Every passport carries the header the standard requires: identifier, granularity, schema version, last update and economic operator.

EN 18239

Not cited yet
Access rights, security and confidentiality

Who may see which part of a passport: the public, authorities, repairers, recyclers. The text was finalised in September 2026 and is not cited in the Official Journal yet, so no one can claim conformity with it today.

EN 18246

Not cited yet
Data authentication, reliability and integrity

Proof that a passport comes from the named operator and has not been altered. Not cited yet. The validator already checks the three requirements visible from outside: public data needs no login, any device can read it, and readers are not tracked.

Certificates from GOTS, OEKO-TEX and Svanen (Nordic Swan Ecolabel) are verified automatically against the issuer's own register, and checked again every week.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Answers to what prospects ask before they sign up.

How long does it take?
Your first passport can usually be published the same day. We often build it from what you already publish on your website before our first meeting. Bringing a whole catalogue into line depends on how complete your data is.
Do I need help from IT?
No. Upload an Excel or CSV file, or let us read your product pages. If you have Shopify, Centra, Akeneo or another PIM, connecting it takes a few minutes, with read-only access.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. There is a 7-day trial with no card, and the validator is free for any passport from any provider.
How is this different from other DPP solutions?
Most DPP tools start with an IT project and wait for your data. DPP Agent starts with the data you already have, shows where each value came from, and checks the passport against the regulation and the EN standards before it is published.
What if my data is not complete yet?
That's normal. The validator shows exactly which fields are missing, product by product, and you publish what you have. AI can suggest values, always with the source shown, and nothing is saved until you approve it.
Will my suppliers have to learn a new system?
No. They get a link, fill in a simple table in their own language and send it. No account, no login. You approve every value before it reaches a passport, and each one keeps its source.
What regulations does this cover?
ESPR (2024/1781) for textiles, furniture and the other product groups as their delegated acts arrive, the Battery Regulation (2023/1542), and construction products, tyres and detergents under their own rules. Every passport is checked against the EN 18216–18223 standards.
Where is my data stored?
In the EU: Supabase Postgres in AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt), with our server functions in Frankfurt too. Public passport pages are served from the edge location nearest the reader, and AI features use Google’s Gemini API in the US. Encryption keys are held outside the database. See dppagent.com/trust for the full posture.
Can I put a passport on my own domain?
Yes. Custom domains and white-label are supported on paid tiers — the passport lives at dpp.yourbrand.com/… with your fonts, colours and logo. No DPP Agent watermark.
What happens if I switch away from DPP Agent later?
Your data leaves with you, in open formats. Every passport is readable as JSON and JSON-LD on its own address and through the standard EN 18222 API, and can be exported as JSON or CSV at any time. CIRPASS-2 is one of the formats on offer, not a lock-in. If your passports run on your own domain (dpp.yourbrand.com), the QR codes already printed keep working after a move: you point the domain at the new provider.
What is a Digital Product Passport?
A structured record of a product's identity, composition, origin, certifications, and end-of-life information that consumers, regulators and recyclers can access via a QR code or NFC tag. The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) makes DPPs mandatory product group by product group, as the Commission adopts a delegated act for each; the battery passport under the EU Battery Regulation applies from 18 February 2027.
Which product categories does DPP Agent support?
Textile, footwear, electronics, batteries, tyres, furniture, mattresses, construction products, iron and steel, and aluminium ship out of the box with category-specific schemas. Other ESPR-in-scope categories run against the ESPR Base schema; we add dedicated overlays as Delegated Acts publish.
